Michael G. SimonMichael Simon has been in the medical device industry for over 28 years and is the Founder and President of IV Medical, Inc., a privately held corporation specializing in the development, manufacture and sale of proprietary medical devices used to administer and monitor intravenous (IV) infusion. Mr. Simon holds several patents on devices used for intravenous infusion, including IV Medicals first product the GraviTech® Flow Controller, an extremely accurate, non-electronic infusion device used to administer IV therapy and medications to the patient. In early 2002, Mr. Simon presented the GraviTech to several large hospital supply companies and following FDA approval in 2003, negotiated an exclusive long-term supply agreement with Abbott Laboratories to market the GraviTech worldwide. Hospira, a spin-off from Abbott Labs, eventually acquired the Gravitech in 2008. As the Founder and President of IV Medical, Mr. Simon’s responsibilities run the gambit in building a company from the ground up. Known for his tenacity and ability to manage cross functional disciplines, Mr. Simon’s experience in new product development, manufacturing and marketing/sales has proved invaluable to the company; he’s also well versed in negotiating long-term contracts and regulatory matters. Prior to founding IV Medical, Mr. Simon was the Director of Sales and Marketing for Codan US Corporation, part of the Codan family of companies and a leader in contract manufacturing services and sales of proprietary infusion therapy products. While at Codan US, Mr. Simon was responsible for all contract manufacturing and OEM sales, accounting for some 78% of total revenue; he also headed up the marketing efforts for the company, both OEM and private label product lines. During his tenure, Mr. Simon revamped the entire marketing platform for Codan US and successfully negotiated several long-term manufacturing agreements with such companies as Pfizer, ConMed, Merit Medical, Medex, Alpha Therapeutics, Argon Medical and others in the medical device industry. Mr. Simon also served as the International Marketing and Sales Manager for Gish Biomedical, a medical device company that designs, manufactures and markets disposable medical devices for the cardiovascular market; including vascular access devices, oxygenation systems and orthopedics. While at Gish, Mr. Simon was responsible for OEM sales and all international marketing and sales of its private label product lines; managing over 72 distributors in the European, Asia Pacific and Latin America markets. During his tenure at Gish, Mr. Simon developed distribution networks in several international markets and established the company’s first manufacturing and distribution center for Europe, located in Belgium. Earlier in his career, Mr. Simon spent several years as an Investment Advisor with Kidder Peabody & Co. and PaineWebber, where he specialized in corporate 401K retirement programs and equity investments, primarily in medical device. Mr. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing & International Business from Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
